One of the cornerstones of Charles Street is the new City of Charles Sturt library and community space. Libraries have evolved into places with access to technology, learning opportunities, business engagement and community activities. Named the ‘Ngutungka West Lakes’, this multi-complex building in the WEST development opened to the public in April 2022. Ngutungka, Kaurna for ‘place of knowledge’, provides community, medical, health, fitness and hospitality facilities across 3 levels.

This project involved a base build and fit-outs of each tenancy, ultimately providing a facility where the community can meet, connect, share and relax amongst a landscaped plaza and café connecting to the well-known Football Park oval. The new facility will bring together the existing West Lakes Library, Community Centre and Council services under one roof, creating a vibrant, attractive and modern facility that will enhance the connections and creativity within our WEST community. The library is situated on the ground floor with a café alongside opening onto Charles Street. Level 1 consists of a physiotherapist, dentist and General Practitioner while level 2 holds a gym alongside the head office of software development company, Complexica.

Complexica’s head office fitout was completed by Tandem as part of the project in conjunction with the base build works. Complexica are a leading provider of artificial intelligence software applications that can optimise sales, marketing and supply chain decisions.
