The Visy Industries facility is a new bulk storage facility for the storage of glass bottles being manufactured by the Visy Industries plant, immediately adjacent to the site. The facility incorporates 4 unloading bays under the 2500m2 canopy upgrade and 3 x recessed docks, 2 x finger docks (for side unloading vehicles) and 1 x RORO (Roll-on Roll-off system) which all have been integrated in the design to maximise operational and logistical efficiency. The storage facility includes 37,500m2 of open storage, allowing storage of in excess of 90,000 pallets. The operations and logistics are controlled from a two storey office structure, conveniently designed to allow viewing over the storage warehouse on one side, as well as the loading canopy area on the other. The sheer size of the facility incorporated in excess of 50 concrete pours for the slabs alone and of particular note was the staging and scheduling detail managed by Tandem Building Group, with one end of the facility being near complete while the opposing end was just commencing. This allowed the construction to be delivered from footings through to completion in less than 6 months after a lengthy environmental and civil remediation process, required due to the prior use of the site.
