Tandem Building Group successfully delivered the JB Hi-Fi Group Headquarters project at 60 City Road, Southbank. Encompassing nine levels of the IBM Tower, the 9,500m2 fit out was a significant project for JB Hi-Fi. Tandem was engaged to assist the project teams from the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase to provide vital buildability and value engineering advice. One of the key design aspects of this project, was the new internal staircase, connecting the Podium level up to level 6. The staircase was JB Hi-Fi Group’s most valued feature as it was intended to create a sense of connection amongst the levels and encourage collaboration between the separate business departments. The staircase required comprehensive architectural input and structural engineering to meet both the design and functionality requirements. This key element was in line with the overall project philosophy, which was to deliver an office space that was open and flexible to meet the demands of an expanding business and provide a cohesive working environment for the multiple teams.
