Tandem Building Group are proud to announce the completion of Stage 1 at St John’s Grammar School. On Monday evening, 1st May 2023, the official naming ceremony was held for The Wymond Centre for Technology.
Stage 1 of the school’s masterplan involved substantial works to the existing visual arts and technology facilities, including the construction of a new art studio and display foyer in addition to a full renovation and expansion of the Technology & Enterprise Precinct.
The Technology & Enterprise Precinct has been expanded to incorporate workshops for woodwork, plastics and metal including installation of welding bays, spray booths and dust extraction systems. There are also designated learning spaces for more contemporary high-tech equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters and VR equipment, an enterprise workshop and an improved digital technology space.
The Visual Arts & Design Precinct includes two new art studios which have dedicated areas for ceramics and print making, as well as an expanded studio. In addition, extensive works were undertaken to the White Chapel Gallery which has been refurbished with meticulous care to preserve the heritage buildings, with a new gallery and garden area that adds to the creativity complex.
Stage 2 works are well underway involving the base build and fitout for the new Education Centre. This learning facility has been architecturally designed to capture exceptional and personalised learning and will serve as the main gateway entrance to the campus. The Education Centre will house a new library space, student services, flexible work areas, collaboration rooms, a conference theatre and staff facilities.
