Delivery of this mixed-use site in Adelaide’s West saw Tandem Building Group overcome a number of complex challenges to produce a dynamic retail precinct, incorporating a service station and mechanic as well as retail, food and beverage outlets. In order to deliver the project, Tandem coordinated traffic management on a major road, demolition of a large warehouse to clear the site that involved significant asbestos removal and remediation works. Site management of multiple builders, including commercial and residential, was required as was groundwater management and control during excavation. Tandem Building Group also negotiated with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure regarding the ingress and egress for multiple use sites. Planning approvals for this project were sought as part of WEST, Commercial & General’s $1 billion master planned development which is seeing the iconic Football Park site transform into a sought after lifestyle precinct incorporating 1,200 dwellings, a cosmopolitan café and dining strip, food outlets and public open spaces.
